Find your lost super

Millions of dollars are out there!

If you've changed job, name or address, then there's a chance that you have lost or unclaimed super.

If you've read about the potential benefits of bringing all your super together, you'll probably want to see what you can find.

Lost Members Register

There's a number of ways your name will end up on the Australian Taxation Office's (ATO) Lost Members Register (LMR).

Usually a super fund will deem you lost and add you to the list if:

• you haven't contacted them or contributed for a while
• some of your mail is returned undeliverable.

Searching the register using the ATO's SuperSeeker service is one of the first steps in finding your lost super. Read more on the ATO website or call 13 28 65.

Retrace your steps

The Lost Members Register only records names under certain conditions. Searching it is also only effective if your details were accurately recorded in the first place.

This means it can be worthwhile looking for your super in other ways too -  retracing your employment history can be a good start. Contact former employers, or look for old letters in your files to see which super funds to contact.
