Crediting Rates

At the end of each financial year, the Trustee declares rates, called crediting rates, at which earnings will be applied to the accounts of members.

Crediting rates are determined by the Trustee, after taking into account the underlying investment performance of each option, less any fees, taxation allowances and reserve allocations, and are applied to member accounts each year at 30 June. Crediting rates can be positive or negative.

Crediting rates are applied at the end of the financial year based on members’ ongoing account balances. Individual account activity (such as contributions, transfers and partial benefit payments) will affect the actual investment return that is received.

Interim crediting rates are determined by the Trustee from time to time and applied to full benefit payments (such as withdrawals or transfers) on the day the transaction is processed.

The following table shows the declared crediting rates for the year ended 30 June 2009, for each of the preceding four years and the five year compound average.
