How crediting rates work

Crediting rates are determined by taking into account the underlying investment performance of the relevant option and allowances for fees, tax and any reserve allocation. Crediting rates can be positive or negative.

Once calculated, the rate is applied to your account each year as at 30 June based on your ongoing account balances. Individual account activity (such as contributions, transfers and partial benefit payments) will affect the actual investment return that is received.

Interim crediting rates are determined by the Trustee from time to time and applied to full benefit payments (such as withdrawals or transfers) on the day the transaction is processed.
