Information for members affected by the Victorian bushfires

AESuper is committed to helping members affected by the Victorian bushfires, and their dependants.

In the wake of the devastation, Senator Nick Sherry, Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law, has reminded super fund members that those affected, depending on their circumstances, may be able to claim either Death or Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD) insurance attached to their superannuation or seek early access to their superannuation.

Insurance claims

If you have a Death or Total and Permanent Disability or Income Protection insurance claim please call us. We will be working closely with CommInsure, our insurer, to ensure your urgent claims are given priority and processed as quickly as possible. Senior assessors will manage these claims and, where possible, certain documentation requirements will be waived to ensure approved claims are paid quickly.

Accessing your super on compassionate or financial hardship grounds

There are circumstances where you may be able to access all or part of your super early. More detailed information relating to these claims are detailed in Accessing Your Superannuation.

Claims on compassionate grounds must be made first with the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA). To find out more about claiming on compassionate grounds, please contact APRA by either visiting their website or calling 1300 131 060.

If you wish to make a claim for financial hardship please contact us.
